Brad Pitt Fights Gay Marriage Ban

Photobucket

Brad Pitt announced Wednesday that he's donating $100,000 to fight California's Proposition 8, a November ballot initiative that would eliminate same-sex couples' right to marry.

"Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn't harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8," the actor said in a statement.

Wow! What a charitable, good-natured act. I'm 100% with Brad on this one!

Matt Damon Is Making My Day

Alright, so earlier on, if you didn't already know, I was talking about how nice it is that celebrities use their famous faces to promote good causes and I wished that there was more of it.

Well, since then, I've discovered that Mischa Barton is in South Africa helping children in need, Miley and the Jonas Brothers are hugging it out and playing charity concerts together and now... MATT DAMON is in Haiti raising awareness about the storms that have been happening there.

Damon is there with Haitian-born Wyclef Jean as part of a humanitarian effort to help survivors of tropical storm Hanna and Hurricane Ike.

No more pics as of yet!

Also, can I just say: I WOULD LIKE ONE MILLION AMERICAN DOLLARS, please. Thank you. OK. If it happens, you guys will probably never hear from me again. Well, at least for the next decade or so. You'll be seeing me around 2020 though, that's when my world domination plans kick in.

Mischa Barton Is Doing Some Good

Photobucket
Wow, I just posted a blog about how much I love celebs doing charity work and using their famous faces to promote good causes and what do I get?

Pictures of Mischa Barton in South Africa, working closely with Save The Children as part of an outreach program.

She recently visited school children in the poverty-stricken township of Soweto, an urban area in the City of Johannesburg, in Gauteng, South Africa.

Of her experiences, she says:
“I visited a primary school in Soweto, where a lot of the children are orphans and there is a high incidence of AIDS. I helped prepare and serve lunch to the children; it’s just simple maize and for many it’s the only meal they get. We chatted and I took part in their class. They are heartbreakingly beautiful children. I feel so privileged that I could just meet [the children] and hope to make a difference!”

Miley's All About The Peace Signs & Hope!

Photobucket
Flashing her trademark peace sign at the photogs at Disney's Concert for Hope Benefit, the ever-beautiful Miley Cyrus was there to support the City of Hope to raise money to aid funding in cancer research and treatment programs.

Other Disney favourites like the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato also joined Miley at the concert on Sunday at the Gibson Amphitheater in California.

I love posting blogs where celebrities are out on a carpet, flashing their charming smiles and doing it for a GOOD cause - not to put a few more nickels into their own pockets. After all, these famous faces are pretty damn powerful. It's nice to see not all of them are corrupted by that power and use it to do some good!
